दिव्य शक्ति प्राप्त करने के लिए साधक जब वैराग्य का मार्ग अपनाता था तो कुछ लोग उसे उदासीन व पलायनवादी कहते थे। कुछ लोग व्यंग करते तथा कहते, संसार से भागे-भागे फिरते हो तो भगवान को तुम क्या पाओगे। हर प्रकार से समाज उसे गिरी निगाहों से देखता। इस प्रकार वह समाज में निन्दा व कोप का भाजन बनता। क्या शील है, क्या अश्लील है तथा क्या पाप है, क्या पुण्य है-इस विषय पर विवाद करने से लम्बी बहस की जा सकती है, परंतु तंत्र मार्ग में इन सबका कोई महत्व नहीं है। योगी तांत्रिक अपनी शक्ति साधना में इनका रंचमात्र भी विचार करेगा तो निश्चय ही वह कभी सफल नहीं हो सकता। एक ही क्रिया एक स्थान पर शील है तो दूसरे स्थान पर अश्लील हो जाती है। जैसे एक स्त्री अपने वंश वृद्धि के लिए अपने पति के साथ सम्भोगरत होती है तो वह मर्यादा कही जाती है, परंतु वही जब अपने प्रेमी के साथ ऐशो-आराम व आनन्द प्राप्ति के लिए चोरी-छिपे संभोगरत होती है तो उसे समाज घृणा की दृष्टि से देखता है तथा घोर पाप मानता है। इन दोनों स्थितियों में संभोग क्रिया एक जैसी है तथा उससे मिलने वाले आनन्द में समानता होते हुए भी एक सराहनीय तथा दूसरी निन्दनीय क्रिया बन जाती है।
